Key Parker, also known as Kenneth "Key" Parker, is a contemporary American artist who was born in Detroit, Michigan in 1959. He is mainly known for his colorful, abstract paintings that explore the intersection between music, rhythm, and visual art.
Parker studied painting at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit and later received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Michigan. He has exhibited his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the United States, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, the Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Detroit Institute of Arts.
In addition to his career as a visual artist, Parker is also a musician and producer. He has collaborated with several renowned musicians, including jazz legend Miles Davis and electronic music pioneer Juan Atkins.
Parker's artworks are held in many private and public collections, including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Studio Museum in Harlem, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. He currently lives and works in Detroit.
